GREEDINESS- THE CRISES OF LEADERSHIP

There is a leadership crisis all over the world; the next generation is at risk of inheriting a world that has forgotten what true leadership is. A look at the emerging stream of young leaders in the business, religion, education, politics, sports and in the corporate world reveals an alarming trend-Albert Ocran.

True leadership seems to be missing in this world. Wars, demonstrations, corruption, dishonesty etc all tend to attest to the fact the meaning and value of true leadership as demonstrated by Jesus Christ and our fore-fathers is lost. All over the world, leaders of societies, clubs, nations etc tend to pursue their own personal agenda instead of the collective agenda of the people who asked him/her to be their leader. It seems that the leaders of today have diabolic intentions before they vie for leadership positions and thus instead of promoting togetherness among their followers, they tend to be one-sided and thus incite the followers among themselves. They also tend to overstay their mandate at all cost and mismanage funds allocated to them. They also surround themselves with sycophants and malign those who criticize them.

The source of this crisis we are facing with leaders of today is greediness. Yes greediness is the cause. Cain killed his brother because of greediness so did Gehazi become a leper as a result of greediness. Ananias and Saphira also became blind as a result of greediness. Thus greediness is a major threat to the leaders of this generation and the next. Therefore, the leaders of our generation must do well to eschew the spirit of greediness in order to realize the aim of the group they represent. Aspiring leaders of our generation and the next should pray against greediness to protect their integrity for the wellbeing of an individual depends on the wellbeing of society.
